Special Issue Information

The special issue aims to investigate the role international trade plays in combating the global food insecurity issue by adjusting the parameters of physical availability of major agricultural products in developing and least developed economies, economic access to food for vulnerable communities, and stability of food supply along intercontinental supply chains. In this special issue, we welcome submissions from all areas of macroeconomics, international economics, and agricultural economics with a high degree of novelty as full-length articles, reviews, and conceptual papers. Both theoretical and practical contributions addressing, but not limited to, the following topics are encouraged:

Topics:

  • International trade in food and agricultural products: producers, suppliers, consumers
  • Comparative advantages of countries and territories in agricultural trade
  • Regulation of food markets: multilateral and national aspects
  • Trade protectionism and liberalization
  • Food prices and food inflation
  • Trade-related aspects of food security
  • Food self-sufficiency and food independence
