Green and Low-Carbon Forage and Feed welcomes original articles, short reports, review papers and data papers covering all innovative and fundamental research on green and low-carbon development of forage and feed science. It aims to promote the disciplinary paradigm transformation of forage and feed science, mitigate the industry bottleneck of high external dependence on feed grains, and advance the efficient and high-value utilization of unconventional forage resources and agroforestry residues. This scope also serves as an international academic platform for exchanging high-quality, field-verified research outcomes in the discipline. Relevant contributions are welcome in the following key research areas:
- Exploitation and utilization of novel forage and feed resources: Development and evaluation of multi-type feed resources, and aquatic resources such as duckweed, water hyacinth and microalgae. Research on feed processing optimization, functional component extraction and animal feeding validation is encouraged.
- Advanced cellulose degradation technologies: Fundamental and frontier research on biological degradation, chemical degradation and cellulase engineering targeting forage materials, crop straw and forestry-derived feeds. Groundbreaking and original technological and mechanistic studies are highly prioritized.
- Biosynthesis of feed ingredients: Synthetic biology-based research for the biosynthesis of novel feedstuffs and feed additives using gaseous substrates, cellulosic biomass and microbial chassis systems.
- Feed conversion of agroforestry wastes and insect protein valorization: Research and practical application of recycling various agricultural and forestry by-products and wastes, including crop straw, garden and orchard pruning residues, forestry processing remnants, vegetable discards, edible fungus residues and livestock manure, for feed production and efficient insect protein transformation.
- Low-carbon production and utilization of forage and feed: Research focusing on low-carbon cultivation and processing technologies of forage resources, greenhouse gas mitigation strategies, and low-carbon feeding techniques for ruminants.
Frequency: Quarterly
