eFeed is an open-access, interdisciplinary journal dedicated to advancing frontier research and innovation in forage and feed science, with a particular focus on green and low-carbon transformation. The journal covers the full research continuum of forage and feed resources, from development and processing to intelligent technologies, biomanufacturing, utilization, and circularity.
The journal welcomes high-quality original research articles, reviews, and methodological studies addressing the discovery, development, processing, production, utilization, and recycling of forage and feed resources. The journal particularly encourages interdisciplinary research integrating forage and feed science with biotechnology, synthetic biology, bioengineering, environmental science, agricultural engineering, and related fields. Research areas covered by the journal include, but are not limited to:
- Novel forage and feed resources, including forest-derived resources, aquatic plants, microalgae, insect and microbial proteins, and agricultural and forestry residues and wastes;
- Advanced forage and feed processing, including cellulose and lignocellulose degradation, fermentation, functional ingredient extraction, and feed quality and safety technologies;
- Synthetic biology and biomanufacturing, including microbial chassis and cell factories for feed proteins, functional ingredients, and feed additives using renewable resources such as CO₂, methane, and cellulosic biomass;
- Precision nutrition and intelligent feed technologies, including feed formulation, precision feeding, and data-driven approaches to feed efficiency and nutrient utilization;
- Low-carbon and circular feed systems, including greenhouse gas mitigation, livestock manure valorization, nutrient cycling, microbial and insect bioconversion, and integrated crop–livestock systems.
