Special Issue Information

The "Transitioning to Regenerative Agriculture and Circular Economy: Economic and Ecological Perspectives" topical collection seeks to explore the integration of regenerative agricultural practices and circular economy principles. This collection aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how these innovative approaches can enhance sustainability, productivity, and resilience in the agricultural sector.

Regenerative agriculture focuses on restoring soil health, increasing biodiversity, and improving water management, thereby creating more resilient farming systems. It emphasizes the use of natural processes and holistic farm management practices to improve ecosystem health and sequester carbon. The circular economy, on the other hand, promotes the reduction of waste and the continual use of resources by creating closed-loop systems. In the context of agriculture, this includes recycling organic waste, optimizing resource use, and reducing environmental impact through sustainable practices.

This collection invites contributions that examine the economic viability, ecological benefits, and practical challenges of implementing regenerative agriculture and circular economy models. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Case studies on successful implementation of regenerative agricultural practices and circular economy principles.
  • Economic analyses of the long-term benefits and costs associated with these approaches.
  • Policy frameworks and market mechanisms that support the transition to regenerative agriculture and circular economies.
  • Technological innovations and digital tools that facilitate sustainable farming practices.
  • The role of community involvement and farmer education in adopting these practices.
  • Comparative studies on the environmental impacts of traditional versus regenerative and circular farming systems.

By bringing together diverse perspectives and research findings, this collection aims to advance the understanding of how regenerative agriculture and circular economy models can contribute to a more sustainable and resilient agricultural future.
