Dear Colleagues,

The agricultural sector is undergoing a profound transformation, driven by the rapid adoption of digital technologies. These innovations, ranging from the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) to blockchain and big data analytics, are reshaping every stage of the agricultural supply chain – from farm to fork. They promise enhanced efficiency, improved sustainability, greater transparency, and increased resilience in the face of evolving global challenges.

This special issue aims to gather cutting-edge research that explores the multifaceted impacts and implications of digital technologies and innovation within agricultural supply chains. We invite original research articles, reviews, and case studies that shed light on, but are not limited to, the following themes:

Smart Farming and Precision Agriculture: Applications of IoT, AI, and remote sensing for optimizing crop yields, resource management, and livestock monitoring.
Supply Chain Optimization and Logistics: How digital tools are improving efficiency, reducing waste, and enhancing traceability in agricultural logistics and distribution.
Food Safety and Quality Assurance: The role of blockchain and other digital technologies in ensuring product integrity and consumer trust.
Market Access and Trade: Digital platforms facilitating market linkages, reducing information asymmetry, and fostering fair trade practices.
Sustainability and Environmental Impact: The contribution of digital innovations to sustainable agricultural practices, climate change mitigation, and resource conservation.
Socio-economic Implications: Analysis of the adoption barriers, policy implications, and the impact of digital technologies on farmers' livelihoods, rural development, and food security.
Innovative Business Models: Emerging business strategies and entrepreneurial endeavors driven by digital transformation in agriculture.

We encourage submissions that employ diverse methodologies, including empirical studies, theoretical analyses, economic modeling, and interdisciplinary approaches. This special issue seeks to provide a comprehensive overview of the current landscape and future directions of digital transformation in agricultural supply chains, offering valuable insights for researchers, policymakers, industry practitioners, and all stakeholders interested in the future of agriculture.
