Special Issue Information:
Dear Colleagues,
The world faces unprecedented challenges in achieving agricultural sustainability amid climate change, resource depletion, and growing food demand. Agricultural policies and technological innovations are pivotal in balancing productivity, environmental stewardship, and socioeconomic equity.
The global pursuit of agricultural sustainability has emerged as a critical imperative amid escalating environmental degradation, climate change, and resource scarcity. With the world’s population projected to reach 9.7 billion by 2050, balancing food security, ecological preservation, and economic viability in agriculture has become increasingly complex. Agricultural policies, shaped by national priorities and international agreements (e.g., the UN Sustainable Development Goals), play a pivotal role in steering farming practices toward sustainability by incentivizing resource-efficient technologies, carbon-neutral production, and biodiversity conservation. Meanwhile, advancements in agricultural science and technology—such as precision farming, gene-edited crops, and digital agriculture—offer transformative potential to enhance productivity while mitigating environmental impacts. However, the efficacy of these innovations often hinges on supportive policy frameworks that address barriers like high upfront costs, knowledge gaps, and institutional inertia. Despite growing recognition of the policy-technology nexus, gaps persist in understanding how interdisciplinary approaches can harmonize economic incentives, ecological outcomes, and social equity. This Special Issue welcomes original research articles and reviews related to agricultural policy and agricultural technology for agricultural sustainable development.
