Special Issue Information:

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite submissions for a special issue on "Human Capital and Technology Adoption in Agricultural Economies." This special issue aims to bring together cutting-edge research exploring the dynamic interplay between human capital development and the adoption of new technologies in agricultural sectors worldwide.

Agricultural economies are undergoing significant transformation, driven by advancements in digital technologies, precision farming, and innovative practices. The successful integration and optimal utilization of these technologies, however, are critically dependent on the human element – the skills, knowledge, and capabilities of farmers, agricultural workers, and supporting institutions.

We seek original research articles, theoretical contributions, and empirical analyses that address, but are not limited to, the following themes:

  • The impact of education, training, and extension services on technology adoption rates and agricultural productivity.
  • Entrepreneurship and their role in agricultural economies.
  • The role of digital literacy and digital skills in facilitating the uptake of modern agricultural technologies.
  • Challenges and opportunities in human capital development for technology-intensive agriculture, particularly in developing economies.
  • The influence of farmers' perceptions, risk attitudes, and socio-economic factors on technology adoption decisions.
  • The effects of technological change on agricultural labor markets, employment, and income distribution.
  • Policy implications for fostering human capital and technology diffusion to enhance food security and sustainable agricultural development.
  • Case studies and comparative analyses illustrating successful or challenging experiences of technology adoption and human capital development in diverse agricultural contexts.

This special issue will offer valuable insights for policymakers, researchers, and practitioners seeking to unlock the full potential of technology in transforming agricultural economies through strategic investments in human capital. We encourage submissions that employ rigorous methodologies and offer novel perspectives on this vital nexus.
